Les Brünettes – Three Questions, Three Answers, One Song
it happened yesterday night at a really cool club in my hometown Freiburg, Germany: Another yet unknown, only one-year-old a cappella newcomer emerged out of nowhere (actually out of Musikhochschule Mannheim), the all-female vocal group Les Brünettes (yes, with Umlaut, which doesn’t exist in French). Thanks to a local newspaper feature the show was sold out as most of the concerts of the ladies’ German/French tour are. If you happen to be in Germany – or maybe you even live there :-) – check out www.lesbrünettes.de (yes, with Umlaut, which does exist on the internet).
I had the pleasure to meet the female quartet after the show and after a well-deserved glass of champagne. As three of them are German and Juliette, the French member has lived in Germany for quite a while, we thought it would be better to do the interview in German. So for all you who want to brush up on their school German, have a try – for all the others we will add subtitles in a few days, so that you non-German speakers will understand the little Q&A and learn more about the group. The song “I Care” (words & music by band member Julia Pellegrini) they sang for me (in perfect quadrophonic surround sound) after the mini-interview doesn’t need ANY translation. It really speaks for itself – just enjoy!
